    An English-language official website, prepared in collaboration with the filmmaker, which includes quotations, biographical information, and a filmography. There is a long bibliography, but most of the articles are in Polish.

    The British Film Institute's gallery on Luchino Visconti. For each of his major films, the BFI provides a brief synopsis and several beautiful film stills.

  • Digital Snow  
    The 2002 DVD-Rom Digital Snow showcases Michael Snow's body of work and has garnered several prizes. The Daniel Langlois Foundation, with permission from Michael Snow and Anarchive, adapted the DVD-Rom for this site. It features texts, drawings, and notes by the artist; texts on the artist; 2-D and 3-D animations and simulations; audio recordings: sound works and improvised music by Michael Snow and the group CCMC; film excerpts; photo reproductions of his work; bibliographies and directories; and a searchable database.
  • Guide to the Orson Welles Collection in the Lilly Library, Indiana University  
    Guide to the materials available in the Indiana University Library system pertaining to Orson Welles, including the huge "Welles Mss," which contains correspondence, tapes, films, radio recordings, and photographs. All of the materials are only available in the physical collection in Bloomington, IN, but this online guide provides the title of each item.

    A filmography and book list by the filmmaker's son. The website is personal in nature, but it is one of the few resources available online about Mrinal Sen.
  • Nostalghia.com: An Andrei Tarkovsky Information Site  
    Run by two cinephile scientists with significant input from film scholars, this site includes still images, quotations from articles and interviews, and a bibliography. There are two sections here that feature previously unpublished work: Lars Olof-Lothwall's photographs, and an original translation of selections from Tarkovsky's diary.

    The official site of Peter Watkins, which includes original essays in which the filmmaker writes about his artistic intentions and inspirations. Includes a detailed filmography with director's commentary on each film.

    The official website, run by the filmmaker's family. Includes a photo gallery and bibliography.
  • Satyajit Ray  
    Site about the director from Maanvi Media, a Bombay-based media company, which has been augmented by Ray fans for years. The "Books and Videos" section has a bibliography with information on how to find each book.
  • Satyajit Ray Collection at UC-Santa Cruz  
    A wealth of information about Ray, including a filmography, biography, and two extensive bibliographies. Founded by Dilip Basu, a Ray scholar who has organized many retrospectives, the site is also host to a number of articles by Basu and other scholars, as well as digitized images from Ray's own sketchbook. The collection section allows you to search the items in the physical archive, which is in Santa Cruz, California.

    The online journal's permanent collection of articles, each introducing and describing one famous filmmaker and his or her work. A wide range of directors are represented.

    Biographies of Warhol superstars and information about Warhol as a filmmaker. The site is mostly a compilation of others' research; the sources page gives information on where to find the original texts.
