  • National Film Board of Canada  
    The National Film Board of Canada’s website has streaming video of more than 700 films, trailers, and clips for free viewing. The collection is easy to browse and includes animation, documentaries, narrative films, and experimental films, in French and English. The Playlists section consists of annotated viewing lists from invited film experts.
  • National Film Preservation Foundation  
    Since created by Congress in 1996, the National Film Preservation Foundation has given preservation grants to 176 institutions across 45 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, and has helped save more than 1,322 films and footage collections. The foundation also publish DVDs and guides and support other national preservation and access projects.

  • Nostalghia.com: An Andrei Tarkovsky Information Site  
    Run by two cinephile scientists with significant input from film scholars, this site includes still images, quotations from articles and interviews, and a bibliography. There are two sections here that feature previously unpublished work: Lars Olof-Lothwall's photographs, and an original translation of selections from Tarkovsky's diary.

    An extensive fan-created database of B westerns made during the heyday of the Hollywood studio system, between 1930 and 1960.   • Origins of American Animation (Library of Congress)  
    This website, maintained by the Library of Congress, offers 21 animated films and two fragments from the early days of American animation. Included are examples of clay, puppet, and cutout animation, as well as pen drawings, in a variety of formats for both streaming and download.
