    Founded in 1959, the journal Film Quarterly contains in-depth review essays on contemporary cinema as well as an extensive book review section. Issues since Spring 2001 are available for online ordering. The website has tables of contents for issues dating back to Fall 1996, and full-text articles are available through multiple databases, including JSTOR.

    Manchester University Press provides abstracts and tables of contents for Volumes 4 to 11 of Film Studies, a biannual journal that "aims to rescue this vital and still young field of study from premature academicism." Online full-text articles are available with institutional subscriptions.

  • Fleischer Popeye Tribute  
    This website is dedicated to the history of Popeye animated shorts produced by Fleischer Studios in the 1930s. Here users can find an overview of Popeye's history, as well as information on Fleischer's stereoptical animation, stills from the cartoons, and a collection of Fleischer-era posters.

    Based out of England, "the Federation of Commercial Audiovisual Libraries [FOCAL] International Ltd, is a not-for-profit professional trade association providing excellent networking and marketing opportunities for content industry professionals". Although it is chiefly designed for members, FOCAL's website also contains a number of articles selected from its publication, Archive Zones.

    This site devoted to the Italian director features a filmography and bibliography. Each entry in the filmography includes a summary, still image, cast and crew list, and a list of selected quotations from critics. In Italian.
  • Footage.NET   Paid Subscription Required
    Footage.net is a network of stock and archival footage distributors. While most of its services are provided for members, users can still look to its frequently updated news section relating to all aspects of motion picture preservation and archiving. A lengthy article by Rich Prelinger on the fundamentals of stock footage libraries can be found on the site's 'About Us' page.
