Robert Zemeckis
October 28–November 4 at
Museum of the Moving Image
, New York
Robert Zemeckis has directed some of the most entertaining, inventive, and beloved movies of the past three decades, including Romancing the Stone, the Back to the Future trilogy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Forrest Gump, and Cast Away. As dazzling as his films can be, they are also marked by a mastery of cinematic language and have surprising emotional depth. Zemeckis’s latest film, Flight (pictured), is both an action thriller and an intense and deeply moving character study, with a bracing, audacious performance by Denzel Washington. The Museum-members-only screening of Flight at the Ziegfeld in Manhattan is the centerpiece of this retrospective, which features four of Zemeckis’s greatest films.
